Quail’s Gate is Kelowna resident’s wine destination. Celebrating the 25th anniversary, this family-owned winery has accomplished so much since its start. The Stewart family has been farming since 1908 in Okanagan Valley and eventually transitioned from growing tree fruits to grapes and wines.
In 1956, the Quails’ Gate estate was purchased and winemaking eventually began. The winery is supported by fine restaurants, retail stores and of course liquor boards. Here is a look at what you can experience visiting Quails’ Gate in Kelowna.
Visiting Quail’s Gate
The Quails’ Gate winery is open for the public to visit. Your experience will combine wine, food and quality time with good people.
Along with touring the property, guests are welcome to stay at the two lake shore properties including The Nest and the Lake House. The Lake House rental includes a 4-bedroom home overlooking Green Bay with a waterfront boat dock, hot tub, fire pit and 2 electronic boat lifts. The Nest is a renovated home at the base of the estate vineyard featuring a private beach, an open plan floor plan and a small patio.
The first stop on your visit will probably be the winery tour and tasting. Complimentary tastings are available all year every day. A tasting flight is $5 with a rebate if you purchase two bottles or more. Touring options include:
- Family Winery Tour including an educational stroll through the vineyards, visit to production facilities, stop at the wine shop lasting an hour long
- Private winery tours for 10 participants with reservation
- Scenic sensory tasting including flights of wine with small bites and views of Okanagan Lake
Be sure to try Old Vines, the Restaurant at Quails’ Gate while you’re there. You’ll enjoy beautiful views with your dinner or lunch.
The wine and gift shop are open from 10am to 6pm daily from October through May. The staff will help you with information on award winning wines, wine accessories and unique gifts. Events take place throughout the year including last February’s “Sip with your Sweetheart,” and March’s job fair.
Take a tour, taste some wines, grab a bite to eat or do some shopping at Quail's Gate located at 3303 Boucherie Road in West Kelowna.
