Joan’s in the Park Restaurant and Wine Bar is a hidden gem found in the heart of St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood. They offer seasonal, North American fare and have been recognized by TripAdvisor as the 2014 winner for “certificate of excellence” and OpenTable’s Diner’s Choice 2015 Winner.

They serve dinner five nights a week since September 2011. This small, intimate venue seats 40 ensuring high-quality service in a beautiful, casual setting. Here is a look at what you can experience at Joan’s in the Park.

About Joan’s

Joan’s is located at 631 Snelling Avenue South in Saint Paul on the corner of Snelling and Bayard in Highland Park. They are open Tuesdays through Saturdays 5pm-10pm and a reservation is recommended which can be done online or by phone.

You’ll love the beautiful interior featuring an intimate dining room for 40 with white tablecloths and a casual neighborhood setting. Their passion is their warm hospitality and they want all guests to have a unique and memorable experience.

Ingredients are focused on close to home and close to heart. Raw materials originate from top quality sources that are mostly organic from the farm. They run a from-scratch kitchen, so even your bread, butter, cheese, sauces and desserts are made in house every day. The main heat source is the large deck ovens rather than a broiler, fryer or sauté station.


Start your meal off with a steak tartare, calamari & mussels or crab toasts. Dig in to your salad like the Kale Caesar or the Lobster. Your entrée options are varied from the rib-eye steak to the farm roasted chicken or the new Bedford day boat scallops to the slow cooked pork shank.

Pair it with a side of sautéed mushrooms or red mashed potato. For dessert enjoy a caramel tart, signature brown butter pudding or chocolate cake.

This April 27th check out their special event “Chef’s Day Off" in which seasonal foods will be offered in a unique tasting menu pared with wines in a casual atmosphere.
